There is no built-in GPS and no stated IP rating, so position reporting depends on an external source and the radio should be kept out of the rain.

On value, the GD-168 is stronger than its price first suggests. At $139.99 you get a DMR and APRS handheld with a color screen for less than most digital radios in its class, which is why it scores well on capability per dollar. The trade-offs are a steep DMR programming learning curve handled through the Radioddity CPS software, no GPS, and a thin track record so far.
