The Ailunce HD1 is aimed at operators who want to step into DMR and digital APRS without committing to a flagship price point. It sits comfortably in the kit bag of a prepared amateur who needs a rugged, feature-capable handheld for field use, SOTA activations, or emergency communications work where digital interoperability matters.
The IP67 rating is the headline durability credential here, offering genuine submersion protection rather than the splash resistance that passes for "weatherproof" on cheaper handhelds. The 3200mAh battery supports extended operations without constant recharging, and the 3000-channel memory is more than sufficient for any serious DMR talkgroup or repeater database load. GPS-enabled digital APRS via hotspot integration adds real situational awareness capability that you simply do not find at this price tier; the value proposition scores exceptionally well by any reasonable measure.
Without a substantial user feedback pool to draw from, the honest verdict rests on the spec sheet: this is a well-equipped radio for the money, though the interface complexity means Technician-class newcomers may find the learning curve steep. Operators already comfortable with DMR programming and CHIRP will get the most out of it.

I have used everything from Keywood, to Yeasu and have one of each, and multiple of others. Then i ran into a situation that I needed to get a DMR radio for a project. That is when I ca...
I have had the HD1 for several weeks and use it daily. In a word, I'm impressed with its quality and features. I wanted a dual-band radio for use when I travel. I also own Motorola gear and the HD1 keeps up so far. Performance on analog and digital is as good as on my Icom, Kenwood and Yaesu radios....
Update: 25-August-2018: Ailunce created a new firmware and addressed many issues reported in my review; BUT, it still locks up; hence, I updated my review from 4-stars to 3-stars. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason a transceiver should lock up requiring the operator to take out the battery to reset the t...
