HYS-771N Dual-Band Whip (SMA-Female) vs Nagoya NA-771 (SMA-Female)

The Nagoya NA-771 is the better choice here, though the margin is modest.

Both antennas are electrically identical at 396 mm: each delivers roughly -1.0 dBi on VHF and 2.9 dBi on UHF. The HYS-771N claims 2.5 dBi while the Nagoya claims 3 dBi; both figures overstate what the antenna's 5/8-wave UHF length can actually deliver. On paper, the specs are a tie.

The differentiator is owner feedback. The Nagoya has a 4.6/5 rating from 12961 reviews, while the HYS-771N shows 4.5/5 from 80 reviews. That vast review count gives the Nagoya's rating much stronger statistical weight. Owners report what they experience in the field, and the Nagoya's larger sample suggests more consistent real-world performance across different radio setups and conditions.

Price favors the HYS-771N by just two dollars, a negligible margin for this kind of purchase.

The HYS-771N suits buyers prioritizing budget on a portable VHF/UHF whip. The Nagoya NA-771 is the better pick for anyone wanting confidence from larger owner consensus at minimal extra cost. Go with the Nagoya.
