Baofeng DM32 vs Yaesu FT-60R

The Baofeng DM32 is the clear winner across nearly every meaningful metric. This is not a close call.

The single most important differentiator is features per dollar. The DM32 delivers DMR digital mode, APRS, GPS, CHIRP support, and higher transmit power at less than one-third the price of the FT-60R. The FT-60R offers none of these capabilities and scores significantly lower overall despite its premium price point.

The DM32 should appeal to budget-conscious operators who want modern digital capabilities and programmability. The FT-60R is only viable for users with specific legacy requirements or those who have already invested in Yaesu's ecosystem, though even then the value proposition is weak.

If you're buying a handheld radio today, get the Baofeng DM32. It's substantially cheaper, more capable, lighter, and more versatile. The FT-60R's higher price buys you worse specs and fewer features—there's simply no justification for the premium.
