Midland MXT575 MicroMobile
The MXT575 is Midland's flagship GMRS mobile, and the full 50 watts is the reason to buy it over the MXT275. It also fixed a real gap in earlier Midland mobiles by adding split-tone repeater support, so it works with the split-tone repeaters that many GMRS clubs actually run. Every control lives on the microphone, which keeps the install clean but means the mic itself does more work and takes more getting used to than a radio with front-panel buttons. At $395.99 it costs considerably more than the compact MXT275, a premium that only pays off if you actually need the extra 35 watts of range. For an overland rig, a ranch truck, or anywhere you want maximum legal GMRS range with a factory-clean install, it is worth the price. Buyers who just want a step up from a handheld should look at the MXT275 first.

Tradeoffs
The good and the bad
What we like
- Full 50-watt legal GMRS output
- Split-tone repeater support that earlier Midland mobiles lacked
- Compact chassis mounts cleanly out of sight
- Mic-based control keeps the dash uncluttered
What we don't
- Costs considerably more than the compact MXT275 for the extra 35 watts of range
- Mic-only controls take more button presses to operate than a front-panel radio
- No display beyond the microphone; harder to check status at a glance

Overview
The MXT575 is Midland's top GMRS mobile: the full legal 50 watts of GMRS power, with the entire radio operated from the handheld microphone. The body is a small black box you can hide behind the dash, which makes for the cleanest install in the class.
It also supports split-tone repeater configurations, which earlier Midland mobiles famously could not, so it works with the repeaters that many GMRS clubs run. For an overland rig or a ranch truck where you want maximum range with a factory-clean install, this is the one.
