Nagoya NA-320A (Tri-Band) vs TIDRADIO TD-771 GMRS (SMA-Female)

The Nagoya NA-320A is the clear winner for general-purpose amateur radio use. It covers three bands with electrical lengths that actually work, whereas the TIDRADIO TD-771 GMRS is purpose-built for a single frequency band and delivers nothing useful elsewhere.

The single most important difference is band coverage. The NA-320A's tri-band design means one antenna handles VHF, 1.25m, and UHF. Its 5/8-wave performance on UHF at 0.65 wavelengths delivers realistic 2.9 dBi gain. The TD-771 optimizes only for GMRS at 465 MHz with a similar 5/8-wave match, but that specificity is worthless if you operate anywhere else. The NA-320A's VHF performance is genuinely compromised at 0.22 wavelengths, but it still functions acceptably on that band. The TD-771 doesn't try.

The NA-320A suits operators who use multiple amateur bands on a single radio. The TD-771 belongs only with dedicated GMRS users who never touch other frequencies.

Choose the Nagoya NA-320A unless you exclusively operate GMRS. The slightly higher price buys genuine versatility.
