Our pick
Baofeng DM-32UV Pro$59.46
The Baofeng DM-32UV Pro is the clear winner for most users, despite its 2.5x higher price point. Both radios deliver identical 10W transmit power, but the DM-32UV Pro justifies its premium with substantially more capability.
The single most important differentiator is feature set. The DM-32UV Pro includes DMR digital mode, APRS positioning, and GPS functionality, making it vastly more versatile for modern amateur radio operations. The GA-510 is a basic analog-only radio with no advanced features.
The GA-510 makes sense only for budget-conscious beginners who need a simple analog FM radio and plan no upgrades. The DM-32UV Pro is the better choice for anyone wanting digital mode capability, location tracking, or potential growth into more advanced amateur radio activities.
Given the modest price difference and the DM-32UV Pro's significantly higher overall score of 78 versus 57, we recommend investing the extra sixty dollars. You're not just getting more features, you're getting a radio that will remain relevant as your skills develop. The GA-510 feels like a purchase you'll outgrow quickly.
