Baofeng BF-F8HP vs Wouxun KG-UV6D Two Way Radio

The Baofeng BF-F8HP is the clear winner for most users. The single most important differentiator is price paired with power: the BF-F8HP costs less than half as much while delivering 8 watts versus the Wouxun's 5 watts, and it has attracted far more owner reviews with a higher reported satisfaction rating of 4.5 out of 5 from over 15,000 Amazon buyers versus 4.0 from 158. Both radios lack DMR, APRS, and GPS, so neither has a feature advantage there. The Wouxun does include an IP55 rating, which we do not have for the BF-F8HP, and weighs 33 grams less. However, these advantages do not justify paying more than double the price for lower transmit power and substantially less owner feedback. The BF-F8HP also supports CHIRP programming, while the Wouxun does not. Buy the BF-F8HP if you want maximum power and value with proven owner satisfaction. Buy the Wouxun only if you specifically need the IP55 weather sealing and can accept lower power and fewer owner reviews to get it.
