HYS-771N Dual-Band Whip (SMA-Female) vs Retevis RHD-771 (SMA-Female)

The Retevis RHD-771 is the better choice here, but the margin is narrower than the score suggests.

Both antennas are electrically identical across the amateur bands. The HYS-771N claims 2.5 dBi gain, which is overstated for its electrical length; the Retevis claims 2.15 dBi, which is also optimistic but closer to reality. In actual use on VHF you'll see a 1 dB penalty, and on UHF both deliver roughly 3 dBi. There is no meaningful performance difference between them.

The single most important differentiator is price. The Retevis costs half as much at $9.99 versus $18.99, while delivering the same electrical performance. The HYS gains points only for a more conservative spec claim, but both specs overstate what you'll actually get.

Owner ratings are effectively tied at 4.5 out of 5 stars, though the Retevis draws from a much larger sample of 919 reviews versus 80, giving more confidence in that rating. The RadioRanked score difference reflects the price gap and rating sample size, not any performance edge.

Buy the Retevis RHD-771 if budget matters at all. Buy the HYS-771N only if you specifically need the higher price point for some reason unrelated to performance.
