Bingfu
Bingfu Dual-Band Magnetic Mount (SMA-Female)
Buy it for the ground plane, not the gain number. It is a legitimate way to get more out of a handheld's own antenna from a car roof, but ignore the 8 dBi claim entirely.

How we scored it
Performance is derived from the antenna's length in wavelengths on each band it covers, not from the advertised gain. How we score →

Is this antenna right for you?
Yes, if you're…
- ✓Handheld owners who want to operate from a car without buying a mobile radio
- ✓A cheap way to test whether a rooftop ground plane helps your setup
Skip it, if you're…
- ✕Vehicles without an exposed metal roof or trunk panel
- ✕Anyone shopping on the 8 dBi claim
Tradeoffs
The good and the bad
What we like
- Gives a handheld's own whip a genuine metal ground plane
- Cheap way to operate from a vehicle without buying a mobile radio
- Included 3-meter SMA coax reaches most dashboards
- Wide compatibility list (Baofeng, Wouxun, Kenwood, TYT)
What we don't
- The mag mount needs a metal roof or panel; it will not grip fiberglass or aluminum
- The 8 dBi gain claim is not credible for a magnetic mount and cannot be checked (no stated length)
- Rating is mediocre for the review count (3.9 stars)

Overview
This is not a mobile radio antenna; it is a magnetic base with an SMA-Female jack, so it takes the same whip your Baofeng or Wouxun already uses and gives it a real metal ground plane on a car roof instead of your fist. It ships with 3 meters of RG174 coax terminated in SMA-Female, and works with the usual list of Baofeng, Wouxun, Kenwood, HYT, and TYT handhelds.
The listing claims 8 dBi of gain, which is more than our model credits even the Comet GP-3, a 71-inch fiberglass base collinear that Comet itself only rates at 7.2 dBi. There is no stated element length here to check the number against, which is itself a red flag; treat the 8 dBi figure as marketing rather than a spec. What is real is the ground plane. Clipping any decent whip to a metal roof beats holding the same whip in your hand, and that is the actual value here, not the number on the box.
