No GMRS radio on Amazon has a track record like this one: more than 13,000 ratings at 4.4 stars, sold as a rechargeable pair for under $100. It is 50 channels with 142 privacy codes, NOAA weather reception with alerts, and a drop-in charging cradle, and it has been the default big-box GMRS bundle for well over a decade. For a family that wants two working radios out of one box, the appeal is obvious.

Two things buyers should know. The "up to 36 miles" on the packaging is a line-of-sight figure measured between hilltops, and real terrain will give you a small fraction of it, which is true of every radio advertised this way. More importantly, we could not locate an FCC grant filed under the GXT1000 or GXT1030 model numbers: the nearest Midland handheld filing in the registry is the GXT1050P from 2015, certified under Parts 95A and 95B at about 3 watts, and it names no other models. That is not proof of anything, but it does mean we cannot show you the Part 95E paperwork we show for the GXT67 PRO, and if a documented current grant matters to you, buy that one instead.
