ABBREE
ABBREE 18.8-inch Foldable Tactical (SMA-Female)
This is a genuinely strong 70cm performer with a folding hinge and a gain claim that actually holds up, and the review count backs that up. It is a bit long for a pocket, but it earns the length.
Proprietary RR score
How we scored it
Performance is derived from the antenna's length in wavelengths on each band it covers, not from the advertised gain. How we score →
Length versus wavelength
What 478 mm Buys You
An antenna radiates according to its length measured in wavelengths, not according to the number on the packaging. Here is where this one lands on each band it covers.
| Band | Wavelength | This antenna | Works out as |
|---|---|---|---|
| VHF146 MHz | 2053 mm | 0.23 λ | quarter wave |
| UHF435 MHz | 689 mm | 0.69 λ | 5/8 wave |

Overview
The ABBREE 18.8-inch Foldable Tactical is a 478mm dual-band whip with an SMA-Female connector, sized between the common 15.6-inch and the oversized 42-inch tactical whips. It folds at a hinge for durability and sells for around $6, and it has the largest review count of any antenna in this lineup at nearly 4,500.
At 478mm, the electrical length works out to about 0.23 wavelengths on 2m, which is mediocre, similar to most whips in the 15 to 19-inch range, and about 0.69 wavelengths on 70cm, which lands right in the 5/8-wave range close to the practical maximum for a single element. That is the same tradeoff the shorter Nagoya-style whips make, just with a bit more length pushing the 70cm number even higher. The manufacturer's 2.15 dBi claim is conservative next to what the model predicts, so it is a believable number rather than an inflated one. The folding hinge is the other selling point: it survives a pack or a belt clip better than a rigid whip of the same length.
