KSUN HF123D vs Y23UV-98PLUS

Our pick

Y23UV-98PLUS$78.28

$78.28 on Amazon

The Y23UV-98PLUS is the clear winner for most buyers.

The single most important differentiator is feature set. The Y23UV-98PLUS includes APRS and GPS capability, while the KSUN HF123D lists none of these features. We lack the transmit power figure for the KSUN, so we cannot compare output directly, but the Y23UV-98PLUS delivers a confirmed 10W. Both radios have missing weight and durability data, so weather resistance remains unknown for each.

Owner feedback slightly favors the Y23UV-98PLUS, at 4.0 out of 5 stars from 16 reviews versus 3.4 out of 5 from 13 reviews for the KSUN. The $22 price premium is justified by the additional capabilities and marginally higher owner rating.

The KSUN HF123D makes sense only for users seeking the absolute lowest entry price and willing to accept unknown specifications and fewer reported features. Everyone else should choose the Y23UV-98PLUS, which offers GPS and APRS functionality, better owner feedback, and transparent power output at a reasonable price point.
