The Baofeng DM-32 is aimed squarely at licensed operators who want to step into DMR without committing to a Tier II radio costing three times as much. It suits Technicians and General class hams exploring digital modes, or budget-conscious operators who need a dual-band DMR handheld as a secondary rig rather than a daily driver.
At 10W output on VHF and UHF, the RF performance is credible for a handheld, and the 4000-channel memory gives serious room for talkgroup-heavy DMR codeplugs without constant reprogramming. The integrated GPS and APRS support add genuine utility for nets and events where position reporting matters, and dual-mode analog/DMR operation means you are not locked out of existing repeater infrastructure on day one.
Where the DM-32 earns its strongest marks is value. The feature set per dollar is genuinely difficult to match at this price point. That said, it carries no IP rating and is not water resistant, and the learning curve for DMR codeplug programming will frustrate newer operators. If you know your way around a codeplug and can live without weatherproofing, this is a hard radio to pass up.

I get the opportunity to use a lot of different radios and this on stands out. I get very positive audio and signal strength reports with this one. This radio works on DMR (Mototrbo) and regular analog FM. This radio can put out up to approximately 10 watts, which is a lot for an HT. I have not yet ...
I have been stubborn, trying just about every radio but Baofeng. And none of them worked. Well, here I am, with my first Baofeng and it actually works. Did a radio check (TX) and got a reply, saying I was coming though reasonably clear, 10 miles away (via repeater). It's a bit scratchy, but it's a p...
Absolutely amazing radio. Encryption, DMR, HAM, and GMRS in one radio? Absolutely worth every penny. The CPS needed to program the radio is a little tedious, but it's very doable. Not a fan of the included antennas, but that's pretty normal. A 16" Nagoya or Signal Stick is a great replacement. I am ...
